Fine Needle Aspiration Clinic

Community Pathology is proud to offer Middle Tennessee’s first and only freestanding clinic dedicated to the performance of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsies. Led by Dr. Meiklejohn McKenzie, a board certified cytopathologist with special expertise in ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration, our clinic performs fine needle aspiration biopsies on masses of the thyroid, salivary gland, lymph nodes, and soft tissue. We pride ourselves on rapid turnaround times and can provide referring physicians with a same day preliminary report if desired.

    Why Choose Us?

    R

    FNA is What We Do

Although many places can interpret fine needle aspiration specimens, our clinic specializes in these types of specimens.

    R

    Expertise

Dr. McKenzie has extensive experience in interpreting fine needle aspiration specimens, having trained with international leaders in the field.

    R

    Immediate Interpretation

Because we look at the specimen while the patient is in the clinic, we ensure that sufficient sample is obtained, avoiding unnecessary repeat biopsies or diagnostic surgical excisions.

    R

    Ancillary Testing

Occasionally, ancillary testing is required to arrive at a diagnosis. Because every specimen is evaluated during the procedure, we ensure that each biopsy is submitted for appropriate testing before the patient leaves.

    R

    Easy, Quick Scheduling

Our simple scheduling system allows referring providers to quickly and easily schedule biopsies for their patients.

    R

    Same Day Preliminary Results

When requested, our clinic can provide referring clinicians with same day preliminary reports. Rather than waiting weeks for a treatment plan, many patients can be referred for appropriate treatment in days.
